Lets make children platforms to be childfriendly
Children make up 30% of the global population, but in regions like Africa, they constitute an even larger proportion—50% of the total population. Similarly, children represent a significant share of the population in the Global South, including Latin America and the Caribbean, and Southeast Asia. As technology continues to evolve, increased access to affordable internet and devices has led to a surge in the number of children engaging with digital platforms and products. Technological advancements have undeniably improved children’s well-being, particularly in these regions, where they have enhanced access to quality education, healthcare, and information. However, the rapid digitisation of these societies has also introduced significant challenges. Children are increasingly vulnerable to online risks such as abuse, exploitation, and exposure to harmful content. The prevalence of online predators—estimated to exceed 50,000 at any given moment—has resulted in daily instances of abuse. Moreover, the rise of internet and gaming addiction is exacerbating both behavioral and social issues among children.
